We are always looking for ways to sneak in some exercise and burn calories during the day while working on other tasks. Below are 4 easy ways to add to your daily workout routine and do two things at once!
1) Two At A Time
Without fail, we are faced with taking the stairs everyday. So why not get the most out of them while we’re at it?
Climbing steps two at a time (as long as it doesn’t hurt your knees) is a great way to get in some exercise as you go about your day. It expends energy, and you can also tone your glutes and quads at the same time. Not bad!
Take the stairs in pairs. Or just opt for the stairs instead of the elevator!
2) Jump for Joy
Need a little pick me up in the middle of the day? Nope, we're not talking about a cup of coffee. Get energized (and burn some calories) with this move: Jumping jacks.
Pump up your heart rate and rev your engines by doing some jumping jacks. What's not to like about an exercise that can be done anywhere and at any time?
Jump in with both feet.
3) Hula Hoop While Watching TV
Want to watch some TV and still get in a workout while you’re at it? Nothing better than multi-tasking while in front of the TV – don’t you think?
Hula hoop while in front of the tube. This is a great activity because you can still concentrate on your favorite shows while burning calories (about 200 calories in half an hour).
If you’ve never hula hooped before and can’t get it on the first try, don’t worry. Just keep on trying and you’ll eventually get the hang of it. Hello hula hoop!
4) Tone Your Abs While In The Car or at Your Desk
Trying to squeeze in some ab exercises? We know – with such a hectic schedule, it’s pretty much impossible to do so. But that’s about to change.
Did you know that there’s a simple move that you can do while in the car (or on the train or on the subway or at your desk) that will work out your abs?
All you have to do is “tighten and release abs repeatedly at intervals. Give it a try – you’ll feel it.
